Obie Trice left Shady Records back in June of 2008 after releasing two albums, ‘Cheers’ and ‘Second Rounds On Me’. He dropped a track called ‘Giant’ in 2008 which hinted that he left the label because of Shady Records’ distributing label, Interscope. Now Obie is making some business moves and starting his own record label called Black Market Entertainment LLC. Obie told AllHipHop that the label was started in hopes to discover new artists from Detroit, “Recognition for Detroit artists is a must, and Black Market Entertainment will be a conduit,” he said. Black Market Entertainment will be officially launched today in Detroit at Via Notre and the whole Shady crew is expected to attend including Eminem, Dr. Dre, D12, and Royce da 59. Eminem is also confirmed to make an appearance on Trice’s new album titled ‘Bottom’s Up’ so it seems there was no bad blood between the two after Obie’s departure. It’s also evident that Obie is keeping the alcohol theme rolling with the title of his new album.

Obie launched his first solo album called ‘Special Reserve’ last December with Canadian Producer MoSS. The album was released on MoSS’s label called Mossappeal Music.

There is no official release date yet for ‘Botom’s Up’ but it will drop sometime in 2010 and I am no doubt looking forward to it! Cheers mates.

Nielsen SoundScan, the company behind the Billboard countdowns, commemorated Eminem’s accomplishments this week by honoring him with a plaque for best selling artist of the decade. Eminem has sold a phenomenal 32 million albums in his career already and he will undoubtedly increase that number when he drops his next album “Recovery” on June 22nd. Dre. Dre, Interscope’s Jimmy Iovine, and manager Paul Rosenberg joined him at the ceremony. Something tells me Marshall keeps these awards in the basement somewhere or maybe I saw that on MTV Cribs.

I haven’t seen that large mushy belly shake in a minute! Well rest assured friends, Bizarre’s new album is dropping on May 11th. What some people don’t know is Bizarre came up in the 90’s as a battle rapper in Detroit’s underground, in fact all of D12’s members including Eminem were handpicked because their fierce battling skills in the Detroit scene. Bizarre also told Complex.com that wearing the shower cap and all that was just part of his image in the six man group. He explained, “that was my part, to bring a humorous side to the group”.

Just listened to Eminem’s interview with Angela Yee on Shade 45. Eminem chatted about what producers worked with him on “Recovery” such as Dr. Dre, Just Blaze, Jim Johnson, and now Havoc from Mobb Deep. The new single “Not Afraid” is a much more “uplifting” track Yee noted and asked Em if the whole album was “not as dark” as the last album “Relapse” which was very much dark because Marshall let the world into his addiction to prescription pills. Eminem explained that overall it’s not all uplifting and that there are a bunch of “different moods, not just one thing”. He clarified that the best thing about “working with different producers is it isn’t one overall sound, it’s a bunch of different shit”.

Also if you’re curious Em said that he is going for Mayweather in his upcoming bout against Shane Mosley on May 1st; mostly because Em wants to see Mayweather vs. Pacquiao which in my opinion would be the greatest fight ever to go down. There are definitely some interesting under card fights tomorrow as well like Oscar De La Yoha’s boy, Saul Alvarez and let’s not forget about Cotto’s brother, Jose Miguel Cotto. Read more…

“Not Afraid” off Eminem’s new album, “Recovery”, hitting stores June 22nd. There is a lot of construction going on outside my window (gotta love NYC!) but I did my best to write down the chorus to show you just how inspirational this track really is. Here is what I have, feel free to correct me if I misheard anything.

I’m not afraid, I’m not afraid, to take a stand, to take a stand, everybody, everybody, come take my hand, come take my hand. We’ll walk this road together, through the storm, whatever weather, cold or warm. Just let you know that you’re not alone…holler if you feel like you’ve been down the same road!

Eminem announced that he is due to drop a new album called “Recovery” on June 22nd. Interscope Records noted that he was supposed to release a sequel to “Relapse” called “Relapse 2″ but ‘The music on Recovery came out very different from Relapse, and I think it deserves its own title.’

“Relapse” which he released after a five year hiatus because a serious drug addiction to pills was a great album because it’s honesty and vivid pain you could feel in the lyrics. So what are we to expect out of “Recovery”? My guess is some seriously sick beats and a more uppity list of tracks and of course some typical Eminem shot outs and disses to all those pop culture icons that he adores so much. The album features tracks produced by DJ Khalil, Just Blaze, Jim Jonsin and Boi-1da to name a few. Just Blaze told MTV News “ He’s really back spitting. The wordplay is crazy, the metaphors are crazy. He’s really back on his game. He had his ups, he had his downs, he’s back way, way, way up. This is definitely going to be up there with the best of his albums, for sure, for sure. The fact that he’s branched out working with a lot of different people now, collaborating in a lot of different ways that he never has before, I think he’s going to surprise a lot of people.”

All I have to say is thank g-d we don’t have to wait another five years for another album!!

On March 11th MTV will premier Eminem and Lil’ Wayne’s video of “Drop the World”. Wayne hurriedly filmed a series of music videos before he would be sent to prison which ended up being postponed due to his dental surgery. Wayne is looking to begin his one year jail sentence in New York on March 2nd. According to MTV News Lil’ Wayne recorded nine videos in one single weekend! Although most of the videos were just him in front of a green screen so they could later add his image into the video. Robinson explained the difficulty in making a video with two superstars “especially two artists that are so big” like Eminem and Lil’ Wayne. Robinson explained that the video certainly matches the song’s intensity, “the whole video is just energy” he explained.

Eminem’s brother Nathan Mathers also known as Nate Kane is due to drop an album in 2010. The twenty four year old who was previously charged for drunk driving in two different states decided that his probation is not going to stop him from following in his big brother’s foot steps. According to the Real Detroit Weekly Nate Mather’s new album will include big name artists such as 50 cent and Mike Jones, who? Mike Jones! Now to some of you this may be a surprise because it almost seems that Eminem doesn’t have good relations with any of his family members excluding of course his daughters but Em and Nate have always been close. The Mathers brothers have even been to several events together and Em has mentioned him in a few of his songs such “Cleanin Out My Closet” where he warns his mother that “Nathan’s growing up so quick, he’s gonna know that your phoney…”

Nate of course says Eminem was his main inspiration for his style. He definitely does sound a lot like Em in terms of his voice but obviously his lyrics don’t even come close. What makes Eminem so special is well…he is special, he is unique and something the music industry had never seen or heard before. So far Nate just sounds like anything you would hear on the radio if you ever listen to it anymore; rapping about clubs, bottles, and girls. Coming out under Eminem’s shadow is going to be tough to say the least but some serious perks come from having a platinum artist as your brother. For one, you know for sure that the album is going to have some sick beats and two, you are going to some big artists dropping bars just to get on Em’s good side. Nate is due to perform live on February 27th at Detroit’s Majestic Theatre. Also checkout Nate Mather’s MySpace, he seems pretty angry, like they say the apples does not fall far from the tree.

Nate’s track “Slide on Over” has already got some spins on Detroit’s radio station WKQI, press play.

The 52nd annual Grammy awards are this Sunday and we’re expecting another phenomenal performance by our boy Eminem. Eminem is already joining a pretty nice list of performers including Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and The Dave Matthews Band (where have they been?).

The question of who will be Lady Gaga’s mystery collaborator at the Grammy’s keeps popping up. There have been rumors floating that Eminem’s drug addiction helper, Elton John, might be joining her on stage just like he surprised audiences when he performed “Stan” with Em so many years ago. I must say that Lady Gaga and and Eminem would make for a sensational performance. They are both a bit sadistic, they both hate being celebrities, and they both continue to push the envelope in everything they do. In addition to their similarities, I think they just would sound great together. I would like to hear Lady Gaga come out with a heavy bassed remix of Paparazzi and then have Eminem come in and start shitting on paparazzi and everyone else in the room!

Even if Kanye West decided to make a normal rap album this year rather than his poppy achy breaky heart album ”808s and Heartbreak,” he probably wouldn’t have won just because that ridiculous stunt he pulled on Taylor Swift at the Video Music Awards. Either way he did leave one spot open for someone new to take home the rap album of the year so thanks for that Kanye.

Good old Hova will also be absent from the nomination for best rap album due to the one month advance to the eligibility period. Put simply his album released too late to be considered for the 2010 Grammy’s. This is good news for Eminem because “The Blue Print 3″ was pretty incredible and I’m not even that big of a Jay-Z fan.

Other nominees include Q-Tip, Common, Mos Def, and Flo Rida. Q-Tip’s album “The Renaissance” included some interesting collaborations with my girl Norah Jones and Timberland’s past project Nelly Furtado. This would normally be something that Grammy judges eat up but they simply won’t be able to ignore Eminem’s much anticipated album from a five year absence which sold off the charts.

I confidently believe that Eminem’s Relapse has the best rap album of the year on lock down and he will be taking home that shiny new award to put right next to the other three he probably has in his basement somewhere.

Q-Tip’s single “Getting Up” from his Grammy nominated album “The Renaissance”

Common’s track “Everywhere” featuring Martina Topley-Bird from his Grammy nominated album “Universal Mind Control”
