Eminem: Unsigned Hype

Unsigned Hype is a monthly column in The Source magazine designed to showcase the hottest unsigned talent from around the country. Each month a different aspiring MC is awarded the honor of appearing in the column as the next possible Hip-Hop superstar. Notorious B.I.G., DMX, Mobb Deep, Common, Lord Tarik, and Capone-N-Noreaga were all discovered by The Source’s Unsigned Hype column. In March of 1998, unknown Detroit emcee Eminem was featured in the column. His song’s “Murder Murder” and “Just the Two of Us” were highlighted and he was described as a one-of-a-kind talent. Eminem is said to redefine the term “ill”.
