Love the way you lie Part 2 leaked Wednesday, November 3
Guess we don’t have to wait until the release of Rihanna’s new album, Loud, on November 16th to hear the much anticipated sequel to “Love the way you lie”. The track which shows the female’s perspective in the abusive relationship supposedly leaked before it could be finished. I however like to believe that the record labels are diligent enough to ensure things like that don’t happen so I think it’s the marketing team at work here. Regardless, the track seems to have the right ingredients to be another smash hit. Have a listen:
Love the Way You Lie Part 2 Tuesday, October 19
Yup it’s official, Eminem and his texting buddy Rihanna are reuniting for a sequel to their hit song “Love the Way You Lie”. The song will be through the perspective of the woman in the abusive relationship, I’m assuming Megan Fox again for the sake of consistency and hotness. The song is of course titled “Love the Way You Lie (Part 2)” and will be released on Rihanna’s new album due to hit stores online and offline on November 16th. Rumor has it the song will be just as passionate and intense as the first. Take a sneak peek at lyrics from the potential hit track,
Even angels have their wing cut schemes, and you take that to new extremes, but you will always be my hero, even though you lost your mind.
Not too shabby.
The two part song is nothing new in the rap industry however do the sequels ever do better than the original hit song?
let’s check out a few cases:
P. Diddy
I Need a Girl Part 1
- A collaboration with Usher and Loon
- It peaked at #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks chart. It also charted on the UK Singles Chart at #4.
- Collaboration with Ginuwine, Loon, & Mario Winans.
- #4 on the US Billboard Hot 100
- #1 on the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks
So both songs in this case actually did really well however Part 1 did outshine Part 2. In my opinion Part 2 was actually a better song. On to the next one, on to the next one…
Usher
Love in This Club
- featured new comer Young Jeezy
- Hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100
- featured superstar Beyonce
- Peaked the Billboard Hot 100 at 18
- Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at 7
- Made Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Best Songs of 2008
Technically Part 1 takes the cake for peaking at number 1 but I’m unofficially crowning Part 2 as the winner for this match for a few reasons. 1. Making Rolling Stone’s list of best songs in 2008 is a huge honor. 2. The song never came out with a video so it got a lot less exposure than the first and 3. The song has been making it to the 90210 Party gang’s (guys behind the 9.02.10 party in NYC and funnyshizz.com) weekly pregame playlist for the last two years.
In conclusion, the two part song strategy will most likely not produce a second hit bigger than the first but if executed correctly it WILL produce a hit and I’m willing to bet that Eminem Will do it properly.
Eminem featuring Lil’ Wayne – No Love Music Video Friday, October 1
Eminem back to acting Thursday, September 30
We have gotten reports that Eminem is due to return to the big screen in a role opposite Anthony Hopkins (coolest dude ever) and Rachel Weisz (Fred Claus). The movie is called “360″ and has various scenes of partners before or after sexual encounters.
Em started his acting career with semi-autobiographical movie “8 Mile” but has more recently made cameos in Adam Sandler’s, “Funny People” and an episode of “Entourage”.
So Eminem is trying to get back into acting and is seriously shooting for the stars; trying to play the Riddler in the new Batman and sharing scenes with two Oscar awarding winning actors. Don’t stop Em, get it, get it!
Nick Cannon threatens to slap Eminem Friday, September 24
I think Nick Cannon is a talented young artist/comedian but the dude is begging for an ass beatin. Recently on his radio show he was quoted saying he would “slap Eminem in the face when he runs into him.” This barley beef stew has been boiling for a while now which stems from the verbal battles and rumored romance of Eminem and Mariah Carey. You can checkout a very well done timeline of the two singers history at rap.about.com.
Most recently Mariah mocked Slim in her new song “Obsessed” where she says “Why you so obsessed with me? Boy I want to know, Lyin’ that you’re sexinme When everybody knows,”..You’re delusional…Boy you’re losing yor mind.”
Em then came back with the a Mariah Carey diss freestyle called “The Warning”. An excerpt from that freestyle goes like this, “Oh gee, is that supposed to be me in the video with the goatee? Wow, Mariah, didn’t expect ya to go balls out Bitch, shut the fuck— up before I put all those phone calls out, You made to my house, When you was wild ‘n’ out, Before Nick, when you was on my dick.”
Back to this silly threat from Nick Cannon. If the two were to actually duke it out on HBO their fight cards would most likely look like this:
Okay maybe on paper Nick looks like he could stand a chance but let’s be honest Em is a gangster and Nick Cannon is a skinny dude from a high school band. Nick Cannon trying to fight Detroit native Eminem brings to mind other legendary mismatches, here are a few off the top of my head:
John Matrix (Arnold Schwarzenegger) vs. Bennett (Vernon Wells) in the movie Commando

Gabe Walker (Sylvester Stallone) vs. Eric Qualen (John Lithgow)
Kyle Busch and his fiancee

A.C. Slater and Screech in an arm wrestling contest
