I thought since we’re all obviously big fans of Eminem I would let you guys in on the next big white rapper if you haven’t gotten the memo yet. I’m trying to write this post while listening to him and it’s proving to be very difficult because the beats and lyrics are so sick I can’t focus. Mike Posner is not just a rapper either, like Drake he is part of the new hybrid model of rappers who can spit with the best of them but can also sing. I was first turned on to Mike Posner from my friend Matty who works at Zomba Records. You might have heard of them they represent the likes of Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, R Kelly, Usher, and many others. Posner was signed by J Records who also have quiet the roster of artists including Jamie Fox, Alicia Keys, and Mario.
A bit about the man: Posner grew up in Southfield, Michigan and has been making beats since he was 13. Yup he is only 21 years old and is a senior at Duke University so he is obviously a pretty sharp dude. Posner did an incredible cover of Beyonce’s “Halo” and it was so good Beyonce herself gave him props. His album is available for free at www.MikePosner.com. Check it out you won’t regret it. It’s Fire!!
As we predicted Eminem took home the Grammy for best rap album for his album Relapse. Other notable winners were Beyonce who took home six grammy’s including song of the year, happy now Kanye?!!, Taylor Swift, Kings of Leon, Maxwell, Lady Gaga, and my man Jason Mraz.
Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Drake’s performance Drop the World & Forever at the Grammy’s with Travis Barker on the drums. High Quality
The 52nd annual Grammy awards are this Sunday and we’re expecting another phenomenal performance by our boy Eminem. Eminem is already joining a pretty nice list of performers including Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and The Dave Matthews Band (where have they been?).
The question of who will be Lady Gaga’s mystery collaborator at the Grammy’s keeps popping up. There have been rumors floating that Eminem’s drug addiction helper, Elton John, might be joining her on stage just like he surprised audiences when he performed “Stan” with Em so many years ago. I must say that Lady Gaga and and Eminem would make for a sensational performance. They are both a bit sadistic, they both hate being celebrities, and they both continue to push the envelope in everything they do. In addition to their similarities, I think they just would sound great together. I would like to hear Lady Gaga come out with a heavy bassed remix of Paparazzi and then have Eminem come in and start shitting on paparazzi and everyone else in the room!
Even if Kanye West decided to make a normal rap album this year rather than his poppy achy breaky heart album ”808s and Heartbreak,” he probably wouldn’t have won just because that ridiculous stunt he pulled on Taylor Swift at the Video Music Awards. Either way he did leave one spot open for someone new to take home the rap album of the year so thanks for that Kanye.
Good old Hova will also be absent from the nomination for best rap album due to the one month advance to the eligibility period. Put simply his album released too late to be considered for the 2010 Grammy’s. This is good news for Eminem because “The Blue Print 3″ was pretty incredible and I’m not even that big of a Jay-Z fan.
Other nominees include Q-Tip, Common, Mos Def, and Flo Rida. Q-Tip’s album “The Renaissance” included some interesting collaborations with my girl Norah Jones and Timberland’s past project Nelly Furtado. This would normally be something that Grammy judges eat up but they simply won’t be able to ignore Eminem’s much anticipated album from a five year absence which sold off the charts.
I confidently believe that Eminem’s Relapse has the best rap album of the year on lock down and he will be taking home that shiny new award to put right next to the other three he probably has in his basement somewhere.

Jay-Z talked about Eminem’s fame, Kanye West, Obama, and Clinton in a recent interview with Interview Magazine. Here is what he said about our man Eminem…
“I never even told him this, but I remember that Eminem came into the studio when we made ‘Moment of Clarity,’ which he produced, on The Black Album. So here’s Eminem. It’s 2003, I think The Eminem Show had come out, and he was like the biggest rapper in the world—he sold like 20 million records worldwide or some ridiculous number. But when he came to the studio, I remember I hugged him, and I could feel that he had on a bulletproof vest. I couldn’t imagine being that successful. I mean, he’s a guy who loves rap and wanted to be successful his whole career. Then he finally gets it, and there’s this dark cloud over him.”
Just for kicks I thought I would include one of my all time favorite songs, “Renagade” by Jay-Z featuring Eminem live. Listen to when Eminem surprises the audience, they go nuts!
How long must we wait?Since the release of Dr Dre’s second solo album 2001, fans have been anxiously waiting for the highly anticipated Detox album, which was said to hit shelves back in 2009.In a recent Q & A with Slam Magazine, Dr Dre hints at the fact that us fans must wait yet another year for his third LP.As he helps his fellow artists get their albums out, Detox has evidently taken a back seat.Eminem just released Relapse which hit the stores last month, 50 Cent released Before I Self-Destruct and The Game is set to release his R.E.D. Album later this year – all of which Dr Dre has worked on.But as we go back and dig in our collection, and take out Dre’s 2001 and play tracks like “The Watcher,” “Forget about Dre,” featuring Eminem and “The Next Episode,” featuring Snoop, we are reminded of those crafty-engineered beats and punch-line lyrics. We can only expect the same, if not more from Detox.Dre would clearly have had enough time!
I got a Google alert a couple minutes ago saying that Eminem got arrested so I rushed to my computer only to find that it was a ridiculous article written on Spooftimes.com. I can’t decide whether I think this is funny or just absurdly dumb. Basically the article says that the writer, Kilroy, attacked Eminem about our recent post highlight, Mariah Carey, in one of his recent articles then Em shot him six times outside of a Dunkin Donuts. The article then goes on to say that the bullets didn’t do anything because Kilroy was so fat he didn’t go through his “blubber”. I don’t know in my opinion a sixth grader could have wrote a funnier article. Check out the article, Eminem Arrested in Death of Spoof Times Satire Writerand let me know your thoughts.
Fans casted their votes for there favorite entertainers at Wednesday’s People Choice Awards held in Los Angeles. The winners were chosen solely by the fans votes. Eminem snatched favorite hip hop artist while Carey took home favorite R&B singer beating out Alicia Keys and Beyonce. Slim Shady was also nominated for favorite male artist along with I’m Yours singer Jason Mraz, stud John Mayer, and country singer Tim McGraw. However another country singer Keith Urban took home favorite male artist.
Mariah was also given praise this week for her role in the movie Precious at the Miami International Film Festival Awards Gala. The songstress seemed unstable when addressing the audience, and then admitted she was drunk as a skunk. Very classy Mariah!
Rumors spread last year that Elton John was collaborating with Eminem on his new Relapse album. What in fact was happening was Elton John was helping Eminem with his drug addiction to prescription pills. Elton John throughout his career has fought addictions with cocaine, alcohol, and the eating disorder bulimia. In 1975 Elton even suffered a drug overdose.
So it seems Elton definitely has the street cred to help Em through this difficult journey. According to the Rocket Man Eminem is “doing brilliantly!” Keep up the good work Slim!
Just for kicks here is Eminem and Elton John performing “Stan” live at the Grammy’s. Excuse us it’s not High Definition to say the least.
None other than our own Slim Shady, our boy Eminem, was named artist of the decade by Billboard. The honor was given to Marshall based on two different factors, activity on the Billboard Top 200 albums and the Billboard Hot 100. Eminem has been making hits since he stepped on the scene in 1999 and he deserves this. From Slim Shady LP to Relapse, he has been absolutely killing it. We just hopes he keeps going and gets the award again this next decade.
